I couldn’t sleep last night so I tried to bore myself to sleep by watching one of the 106 shopping channels my cable provider thinks I need. It got to the point it was almost comical about how enthusiastic the spokesperson was at 2am over the beauty and stunning elegance of the turquoise jewelry she was trying to sell. Outside of the desert southwest, I’ve never seen anyone ever wear any turquoise unless it was fabric dyed to that color. I woke up this morning feeling groggy, like I did back when I used to stay up all night watching MTV and then had to go to school. Inevitably it would also be on a day that I had a test, usually history, when I had to know the states that ratified the Constitution or something like that. Thankfully, those days are behind me and now I can use sick days and not even bother to go into work if I’m not at my best. I’m just thankful that I didn’t succumb and buy any of the turquoise, but I know that some of you have.
