I started listening to a satellite radio station that only plays cover versions of songs. I was surprised by songs that are actually cover versions that I thought were the original hit. The surprises didn’t end there. My youngest wanted to send a birthday card to her cousin in another state. I didn’t realize that she had never had to address an envelope before and didn’t even know what a ZIP code was for. What is even sadder is the stuff that I do keep in my brain that has absolutely no use whatsoever. For example, I can name virtually every retired baseball jersey number by every team in the Major Leagues. I don’t know why and and I’ll never use it, but by gosh I know it.
