One of my nephews managed to get a ticket to ComicCon in San Diego this year. He’s one of those folks that doesn’t really care for anything from Marvel or DC Comics; he likes the sci-fi/fantasy stuff that more hardcore comic fans are into. He showed us some pictures he took of folks dressed up as characters from the movie Avatar (I don’t want to know who helped them with the body paint). His big thing was a booth set up for fans of a fantasy series called Discworld. I know nothing about it and probably never will, but he is enthralled with it, whatever it is. But I do understand his fandom. I am still proud of the picture I have of me standing next to the Willie Stargell statue that I keep in my baseball memorabilia collection. Since there are both types of fans in the world, we are going reward both types tonight. You have your choice of either 15 points at the end of Round 2 (before the Double Down Dare) when you bring a Marvel or DC Comics book with you OR you can earn 40 points at the end of Round 3 (before the Double Down Dare) when you go all out and come dressed up as your favorite super hero. If you just draw an “S” on a t-shirt and claim to be Superman, that isn’t going to get you the points. There had better be the correct color tights and a cape or you’ll get nothing and like it.
