This past weekend was interesting. My daughter’s new boyfriend tried to show off for me by telling me he thought of himself as a gastropod, instead of a gastrognome. From there, he went the pretentious route by stating that no singer in his music collection had ever won a Grammy award. So, of course, over dinner that night I made sure to steer the conversation to the rules of NASCAR, just to see how long it would take for his eyes to glaze over.
