I read the other day that MLB players are going to ask for the designated hitter to be in both leagues as part of their next collective bargaining agreement. I am not in favor of this as I love to see Bartolo Colon and other Hall of Fame pitchers rake hit after hit throughout their major league careers. I have noticed that I’m beginning to look a little more like Bartolo Colon than I would like these days. At some point I’m going to have to break down and figure out which fad diet I’m going to start to try and lose some of this weight. And speaking of Bartolo Colon, I am still surprised that as much as he is a beloved figure in the world of professional baseball, how he has never made the cover of a single issue of Sports Illustrated is beyond my comprehension. Then again, in this digital age, being on the cover of Sports Illustrated doesn’t seem to hold the same cache that it used to. For some you it might still have some cache when you bring a non-swim suit edition copy of Sports Illustrated with you tonight because it will earn your team 30 points at the end of Round 3 (before the Double Down Dare).
